Design Exchange ‘09 is the first design conference hosted by the Lebanese American University Graphic Design Department, Byblos campus.
This weeklong conference held from November 23-28, 2009 welcomes three world-renowned graphic designers and design educators from Japan, the Netherlands and the United States. Each of these invited guests will give an intensive workshop, exhibition of their work as well as a public lecture.
The conference is open to students, educators, designers and a public interested in sharing the uniqueness of Eastern and Western cultures within contemporary graphic design practice. Cultural differences will be embraced while recognizing that excellence in design transcends boundaries. Emphasis is place on enhancing visual culture through modernization rather than its obliteration due to globalization. The conference serves as a forum for the exchange of new thinking, processes as well as creative explorations and dialogues on design.
